Due to the recession, layoffs and unemployment many families can't afford a traditional Christmas. The mission of this dynamic duo is to give back to less fortunate families this Christmas. By providing toys and monetary gifts to POTS "Part of the Solution", located on Webster Ave. in The Bronx, where Hip Hop got it's start.
This day will go down in Hip Hop history, it is the first time that many of the pioneers of Hip Hop will be in one place volunteering their services. Hip Hop pioneer Busy B. and a host of others will be serving food and giving out toys.
ABOUT (POTS) PART OF THE SOLUTION
In 1982, Part of the Solution (POTS) opened its doors as a soup kitchen in the Bronx. Since then, the organization's mission has expanded from feeding its neighbors to nourishing the needs of the community in a holistic way. POTS is now a multi-service agency that addresses low-income people's most immediate, basic needs and helps them take the next steps to stabilize and improve their lives.5.jpg
In any given year, POTS will help more than 10,000 people, including 1,700 families with 3,000 children. In response to extraordinary growth in the need of its community (from providing 211,000 meals in 2005 to providing more than 350,000 meals projected for 2010), POTS is in the process of renovating a new facility include, scheduled to open in late 2010, which will enable the organization to increase the number of people served and offer a broader array of programming. Planned service improvements/expansions in the new facility conversion of its Food Pantry to the self-select ("grocery store" model, a medical and dental clinic, after-school tutoring, expanded case management and legal services.

Afrika Bambaataa, Activist and Hip Hop Legend

6.jpgBronx native Afrika Bambaataa is one of the originators of break-beat deejaying, and one of the architects of Hip Hop Culture. In fact, he is credited for coining the phrase "Hip-Hop." With his early use of drum machines and computer sounds, Bam (as he is affectionately known) was instrumental in changing the way R&B and other forms of black music were recorded. His creation of electrofunk, beginning with his piece "Planet Rock," helped fuel the development of other musical genres such as freestyle or Latin freestyle, Miami bass, house, hip house, electronic and early techno. He was the first to use a synthesizer on a Hip Hop record, ultimately creating the electro funk sound.

Bam is responsible for initiating many careers in the music industry, and his early association with Tom Silverman of Tommy Boy Records helped propel the label to its success. At a time when DJs, hip hop or otherwise, were recognized for the distinctive records they played, Bam was called the "Master of Records," and was acclaimed for the wide variety of music and break records he presented to the hip-hop crowd, which included go-go, soca, reggae, and African music and collaborations with diverse artists such as Kraftwerk. Bam is also recognized as a humanitarian, who has applied elements of Afrocentric, spiritual, and health-conscious teachings to his philosophy and to activism in the South Bronx. He is also a historian on hip-hop roots, who traces the culture back to the times ofthe African griots.

During the 90s and now into the new millennium Bam continues to be an activist and force for positive change in the South Bronx, continues to tour the globe as a deejay, and has been busy collaborating with various artists and gathering accolades. Bam was the first person to be presented with the Billboard Founders of Hip Hop Award in 2005. In 2006, he was honored by Bronx Borough President Adolfo Carrion, Jr. and elected into the Bronx Walk of Fame. In October 2006, Bam was honored at the VH1 Hip Hop Honors, and in January 2007 was nominated for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. In 2006 Bam collaborated with The Bronx Museum's Teen Council on a DVD interview discussing his life and work. For more information, bookings, and interviews contact Blue at: klbprods@earthlink.net.
THE HIP- HOP CHEF

tyesaleika2b.jpgTyrone Jones is better known to the entertainment world as "The Official Hip-Hop Chef', he trademarked and branded the concept of the Hip-Hop Chef. Chef discovered his love for Hip Hop as early as the tender age of thirteen. Along with noticing his love For Hip Hop he also discovered a passion for cooking. To stay out of trouble Tyrone's grandmother kept him busy in the kitchen after school. This is where The Hip-Hop Chef developed his skills and eventually mastered his craft.

While Chef was tweaking his skills he listened to many pioneer artists in the hip hop game some of his favorites where Afrika Bambaataa, Grand Master Flash, Run DMC, Kool Herc, Doug E. Fresh, KRS 1, Busy B., just to name a few of the greats. Songs like Jazzy Sensation by Afrika Bambaataa really inspired the Chef to make great creations in the kitchen. The Hip Hop Chef started his professional career by doing an apprenticeship at a Doubletree Hotel located In New York. Seeing things in another light he began to cook for big Hip Hop names such as LL Cool J, The Late Tupac Shakur and Biggie Smalls, Rickey Smiley, T.I., Bun B., Paul Wall, Young Jezzy etc.  It was at this time when Chef decided to merge his love for cooking and hip hop, he came up with the idea of becoming "The Official Hip-Hop Chef", to the urban world.

Chef officially caught his big break in 2003, while catering Kevin Liles birthday party. It was at that time he was introduced to the people that would change his career like, Frank Ski of The Frank Ski and Wanda Morning Show in ATL, Kevin Liles Former President of Def Jam Records and Vice President of Warner Music Group, and Russell Simmons of Rush Communication.  Doors began opening for the Chef making him the culinary mogul that he is today. That's when he started catering for DEF Jam, Atlantic Records, and all the big wigs in the Hip Hop Industry.

The Hip-Hop Chef has been featured in magazines such as: Hip Hop Weekly, XXL, King Magazine, BET, & BET.com (Black Carpet), also attended and catered the BET 2008 and 2009 Hip Hop Awards Show.  The chef has many famous Hip Hop dishes such as Free Style Fried Chicken, Microphone Check Macaroni & Cheese, Money Hungry Collard Greens, Uncle Russ Vegan Stir Fry, are some of the chef's creations inspired by Hip Hop. The Hip Hop Chef also gives back to his community by sponsoring a feed the homeless Charity Event called Hip Hop for Hunger. The program was set to raise money and feed the homeless. The Hip Hop Chef's biggest supporter was his late grandmother Martha Jones, his team Michael Lamb, Maria Vega, and last but not least Chastity "The Official Publicist" and Spiritual Advisor.
