The 16-year-old Chicago native achieved her goal of finishing her first album at the age of 15, before she turned 16 on 12/12/12.  The recording, which boasts a blend of mature R&B vocals along with a youthful, upbeat hip-hop-infused style, is poised to launch Yemi Marie into the hearts of music lovers of all ages while setting her apart from her peers. Listeners have many favorites to choose from.

On her first music video and single, “Draw the Line,” Yemi draws it down by offering a unique perspective of a strong independent young woman who distinguishes herself by encouraging listeners to make positive decisions.  On “Old Fashioned Love,” which is fast becoming a favorite at weddings, she offers a lyrical ballad that shares the endearing magic of a special relationship.  “Sunny Day” is a fresh, throbbing beat with an uplifting lyrical melody.  Yemi Marie’s music is not solely an urban sound, but a blend of rhythmic soul melded from various genres of musical influence.

In scope and composition, Yemi Marie’s sassy 12/11/12 debut is engaging while offering enormous talent and the promise of a stellar career.

Like many of her teen colleagues, Yemi Marie is alarmed by the ever-growing number of young people falling victim to gun violence and bullying in Chicago and around the country. But rather than be discouraged, the spunky 16-year-old decided to lend her distinctive voice to help resolve the problem. With powerful vocals on her hot new single and video, “Draw the Line,” the teen recording artist encourages youth to actually “draw the line” and not give in to negative influences. Among the lyrics she wrote when just 15: I keep it positive when it comes to me, I know who I am and who I want to be . . .  You’ve got your beliefs and I’ve got mine, Maybe that is where we draw the line.

“We must take a strong stand against bullying and for those who have fallen to random violence in our Chicago communities,” says Yemi Marie. “As youth we must understand that what we do, good and bad, might greatly affect others.  We are not too young to learn the importance of drawing the line.  We all must do what we can to stop the violence.”

To do her part, Yemi Marie has launched the Draw The Line Anti-Violence, Anti-Bullying Campaign in Chicago schools and community centers.  The campaign features Yemi Marie speaking and singing to students; she will be accompanied by a seasoned social worker or other experienced professional who can answer tough questions from young people as well as advise school administrators and teachers.

As a child, Yemi Marie sang in her grammar school’s talent show, wowing fellow students and teachers with her take on “A Song for Mama,” made famous by Grammy Award-winning Boyz II Men. Influenced by fellow Chicagoan Jennifer Hudson, as well as Christina Aguilera, Alicia Keys, Beyoncé and Whitney Houston, the teen worked hard to develop her own style while learning to play the piano and fine-tuning her song-writing skills.  She has performed before crowds both large and small while honing her vocal abilities and stage presence.  Her diligence and hard work have paid off, for now the beautiful young woman’s moving vocal performances make listeners forget that she is a teen.  In 2012, Yemi Marie was named Top Talent by the Talent Shines International Talent Convention. Her performances, for which she earned top scores against thousands of contestants, were broadcast live around the globe from Disney World in Orlando.

The young artist’s emphatic hit single and video “Draw the Line,” as well as seven additional songs she co-wrote and recorded, are released on Prize Music Entertainment and can be found on iTunes and You Tube.  She wants to share her inspiring message with young people in schools and youth organizations around the city and country.
