Preserve Our Democracy, Surge Them Out

Preserve Our Democracy, Surge them out

To ensure Democratic victory Hillary, Bernie, and every Democratic contender for political office needs to say this in every speech and political ad:

“Regardless of whether or not I win or lose the primary, I want every one of my supporters to be sure to vote in November. The Republicans have been trying to take away one of our most fundamental rights as a citizen of these United States – the right to vote. They have been doing this all over the country by voter suppression, by voter-id laws, by removing polling stations in selected neighborhoods so that voters must endure waits of over 5 hours in states like Arizona. What a shame. Don’t let them take away your right to vote. With low voter turnout, Republicans win. So come November, regardless of  Republican obstruction, come out and vote and make this election the highest voter turnout ever. Vote in November!”

The entire country is outraged at the bathroom discrimination laws Republican governors are pushing and understandably so. But the deliberate Republican suppression of the voting rights of American citizens is much worse and threatens our democracy itself.  Just as apartheid South Africa hated one-man-one vote, Republicans do too. They are getting away with it because Democrats are not doing enough to fight it.  We must fight it by creating  high voter turnout in November. The last election saw one of the lowest voter turnouts ever.  Come November, every  Democratic candidate and every Democratic organisation need to  work to preserve and affirm the voting rights of every American by campaigning for our voters everywhere to register and vote in the largest numbers ever.  This is a critical issue and should be central to every campaign. Every single citizen should take up this battle too, rather than leave it to others. To not vote is a victory for Republican voter suppression. Let us honor and be inspired by those brave voters in Arizona who were forced to wait in line for over five hours.  Let us create a surge in voting all over America like never seen before. Let us surge them out!

The prime targets of Republican voter suppression are the same prime targets of police brutality, black people. Black people traditionally do not turnout to vote in high numbers. But not this time. To resist this Republican voter suppression particularly aimed at them, black people must fight back by joining the surge in voting come November.  Let us all preserve our democracy and surge these  vote-suppressing Republicans out. Let us take back the senate and the house and keep the presidency while we all can still vote.
