“As the media continue to consolidate and corporate ownership amasses greater power, money, and influence and control over the public and government officials, in effect creating a plutocracy, the public interest is increasingly marginalized and negatively impacted. A very real threat of corporate media globalization and transnationalization is global dominance by elites over the public by way of a propagandist media state. The manifestation of such a threat is arguably a new world order that endangers the public to subjugation to a global totalitarian state of corporate

political rule.” THE PROPAGANDA MODEL: CORPORATE AND POLITICAL COLLUSION IN THE CREATION OF AN OLIGOPOLISTIC MAINSTREAM U.S. MEDIA A Thesis Presented to the Faculty in Communication and Leadership Studies School of Professional Studies Gonzaga University by Frank McCloy December 2012

One reason the masses of Americans are so lethargic and comatose and we fall for the ruling class’ okey-doke is the pervasive impact of the monopoly mass media’s round the clock bombardment of disinformation, obfuscation and lies. While there appears to be a left-right dichotomy at work here, Fox Cable News vs MSNBC for example, the reality is the corporate mind control apparatus broadcasts a class bias of their perspective and interests to the exclusion of the interests and perspectives of the masses.  The mass media is not on our side nor does it function for our benefit!

This is why we rarely hear any real anti-war messages, critiques of corporate crimes and corruption or mention of ecocide on the “competing” networks and cable channels including NPR. The corporate media is owned by six giant media conglomerates and the programming and content exclusively promotes the interests and worldview of their super rich owners better known as the one percent. “Most Americans don’t really seem to care about who owns the media.  But they should. The truth is that each of us is deeply influenced by the messages that are constantly being pounded into our heads by the mainstream media.  The average American watches 153 hours of television a month.  In fact, most Americans begin to feel physically uncomfortable if they go too long without watching or listening to something.  Sadly, most Americans have become absolutely addicted to news and entertainment and the ownership of all that news and entertainment that we crave is being concentrated in fewer and fewer hands each year.  The six corporations that collectively control U.S. media today are Time Warner, Walt Disney, Viacom, Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp., CBS Corporation and NBC Universal.  Together, the ‘big six’ absolutely dominate news and entertainment in the United States.  But even those areas of the media that the ‘big six’ do not completely control are becoming increasingly concentrated. For example, Clear Channel now owns over 1000 radio stations across the United States.  Companies like Google, Yahoo and Microsoft are increasingly dominating the Internet.

But it is the ‘big six’ that are the biggest concerns.  When you control what Americans watch, hear and read you gain a great deal of control over what they think.  They don’t call it ‘programming’ for nothing.  Back in 1983 it was bad enough that about 50 corporations dominated U.S. media.  But since that time, power over the media has rapidly become concentrated in the hands of fewer and fewer people…These gigantic media corporations do not exist to objectively tell the truth to the American people.  Rather, the primary purpose of their existence is to make money. These gigantic media corporations are not going to do anything to threaten their relationships with their biggest advertisers (such as the largest pharmaceutical companies that literally spend billions on advertising), and one way or another gigantic media corporations are always going to express the ideological viewpoints of their owners.” Who Owns The Media? The Six Monolithic Corporations That Control Almost Everything We See, Hear and Read  by Michael Taylor http://theeconomiccollapseblog.com/archives/who-owns-the-media-the-6-monolithic-corporations-that-control-almost-everything-we-watch-hear-and-read

Our addiction to mass media has its negative side. The monopoly mass media brainwashes us, programs us, tells us what to think, sets, standards and values and creates an emotional climate that far too many of us uncritically buy into, internalize and willingly possess as our own. The primary objective of the mind control programmers is to get the target (the mark, the chump) to think the content they feed him or her is actually his or her own original ideation, that it comes from deep within him or her rather than the premeditated content he has been manipulated to accept and internalize!

The one thing the ruling class fears the most is the masses waking up to their actions and tricknology and taking direct action against them.  The biggest threat to the ruling class’ monopoly of disinformation and deceit is the Internet. So the corporate and government shot callers are making a concerted effort to monitor, infiltrate, pollute and control as much of the content on the Internet as they can. While more people are catching on to their tricks and know that partisan and ideological trolls are rampant on the World Wide Web, there are still millions of us also mindlessly consume media on the Internet, via streaming and other sources that is just as premeditated, deliberate, lethal and controlled as any network or cable programming.  In fact alternative media is the new avenue to the psyches of a younger demographic. Now the ruling elites are moving to take total control of the Internet via pricing, availability of content and legislation.

“Government plans to monitor and influence internet communications, and covertly infiltrate online communities in order to sow dissension and disseminate false information, have long been the source of speculation. Harvard Law Professor Cass Sunstein, a close Obama adviser and the White House’s former head of the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs, wrote a controversial paper in 2008 proposing that the US government employ teams of covert agents and pseudo-‘independent’ advocates to “cognitively infiltrate” online groups and websites, as well as other activist groups.

Sunstein also proposed sending covert agents into ‘chat rooms, online social networks, or even real-space groups’ which spread what he views as false and damaging ‘conspiracy theories’ about the government. Ironically, the very same Sunstein was recently named by Obama to serve as a member of the NSA review panel created by the White House, one that – while disputing key NSA claims – proceeded to propose many cosmetic reforms to the agency’s powers (most of which were ignored by the President who appointed them)… Then there is the use of psychology and other social sciences to not only understand, but shape and control, how online activism and discourse unfolds.” How Covert Agents Infiltrate The Internet To Manipulate, Deceive and Destroy Reputations http://www.voxnews.com/index.php/media-watch/item/93-covert-infiltration

There is a war on for our minds, make no mistake about this; unfortunately the ruling elites are winning because they are better funded, better organized and they operate in secret. Most people do not even know they are being manipulated, brainwashed and programmed. Most of us are not aware of the psychological tricks and subliminal symbols and messages the media contain. The government and corporations are in cahoots and in collaboration to control what we think, how we respond to the events of the day (many like 9-11 they controlled) and the actions we plan to take. “Everything is linked to science, manipulation, mind control and invisible wire-pullers when it comes to politics. This is also what had predicted Moses Ostrogorski, a Russian researcher and shrewd observer of American political parties at the end of the nineteenth century. This expression of wire-puller has been popularized later, in front of incomprehensive masses, by famous movie (and book) the Godfather. The masses of consumers, voters or travellers never do what they want; they just do what they are told to do… Those who are behind the scenes have been dubbed here the manipulators of symbols, the deciders, the technocrats sometimes. Bernays writes in his clerical style: As civilization has become more complex, and as the need for invisible government has been increasingly demonstrated, the technical means have been invented and developed by which opinion may be regimented…” Why Western Democracy Is Mind Control and Invisible Government http://politicalvelcraft.org/2013/04/09/why-western-democracy-is-mind-control-and-invisible-government

The goal of the ruling class is to turn us into mindless consumers, zombies and unthinking or controlled automatons who “think” and act in accordance with their dictates, whims and agenda. They may want to control our minds but we have agency and the power to thwart their plans! We do not have to be duped and manipulated. We have the power to take back, defend and transform ourselves, our minds and our reality! All we have to do is cut back and limit our media consumption from all sources. We must become mindful there is a war on for the control of our minds and to watch, read and listen to all media with this fact in mind.

More importantly we can take control of our thoughts, monitor and control the self-talk we engage in daily, master our emotions and what we think about. We have the power to control our minds and by so doing take control of our lives. We can apply the various laws of mind such as the law of non resistance; meaning don’t fight a thought or image in your consciousness merely be aware it is there, relax and intentionally substitute another thought idea or image, one you yourself control. In due time you will begin to master your flow of consciousness. You may not be able to stop random thoughts from entering into your consciousness/awareness but you can choose how long if at all they remain.

Another way to control our minds is to not allow others an opportunity to put ideas, images, words or a worldview into our consciousness. Be mindful of what you are watching, listening to and reading, be discerning and extremely selective and discriminating about what you read, watch and listen to. The best way to thwart the mind control apparatus is not to give it access to your mind, become a critical and independent thinker and think for yourself!
