Chicago-Midwest

CHICAGO – Cook County residents join with community, civic and education leaders who are outraged about State’s Attorney Anita Alvarez’s blatant abuse of power and violation of voters’ civil rights. Alvarez has zealously harassed, persecuted and prosecuted people of color and innocent peace activists; yet she has done nothing to bring to justice the Chicago Police executioners of innocent Black men and women and have rebuffed their families. Anita Alvarez has developed the reputation as “a persecutor of the people,” instead of the prosecutor on behalf of the people. For instance: o The Howard Morgan case was handled by Alvarez’s office and it was openly known that she prosecuted the wrong man, who was later convicted and sentenced to over 40 years in prison. And what about her inability and refusal to bring charges against former mayor Daley's nephew who allegedly killed a young man in a bar brawl several years ago. She's appeared on national television (60 Minutes, December 9, 2012, http://www.cbsnews.com/video/watch/?id=50136707n) and proclaimed that African-American men who have been exonerated of heinous crimes are still guilty in her opinion, even though she personally admitted that her office did not examine the evidence. o Alvarez did nothing to bring to justice the murderer of Rekia Boyd, an off-duty police officer Dante Servin. Boyd was an innocent bystander and was killed on March 22, 2012 when Servin shot at Antonio Cross, who was also unarmed and innocent of any wrongdoing. o Recently, Alvarez used her office to maliciously attack an upstanding citizen and leader in the community, Mr. Kenneth Williams. Mr. Williams was a two-term, highly supported president of Thornton Township High School District 205 but upon learning of his non-sexual, non-violent conviction of aiding and abetting forgery in Indiana in 1985, Alvarez filed a lawsuit against him and had him ousted from his position. District 205 voters not only elected Mr. Williams on two separate occasions but did so by a large margin of victory, which says in no uncertain terms they want him on the school board. Questionably, Alvarez remained steadfast in her attempts to undermine the voice/vote of the people. We have a democratic electoral system for a reason and politically initiated motives should not supersede the voice, vote and will of the people. On Monday, November 11, 2013, at 11.30 am, at the headquarters of Speak The TRUTH T.V. and TRUTH B TOLD News Service, located inside of Urban Broadcast Media Production Studio, located at 4108 South King Drive, Chicago, Illinois 60653 there will be a call to action. Cook County residents will stand together to speak out against Anita Alvarez’s blatant attack on the African-American community and speak up for taxpayers’ right to vote and have their vote to count, not stolen for political agendas.
