Chicago-Midwest

Grant writers are employed by many types of organizations.  Although they are usually employed, or work as independent contractors for non-profit organizations, you’ll find a demand for these services in many industries.

Groups seeking funding vary from youth organizations, churches, community programs, as well as, universities, government agencies, businesses and corporations.

Their main function is to successfully secure funding for the employing entity.  This is done through grant research (including planning and recommendations) and the writing of grant proposals.

The competition is building as more people move into the field, but demand is still high and salaries vary according to experience.  Grants writers may be paid per hour or project, or their positions may be commissioned based.

As of October 2011, a salary survey conducted by Salary.com indicated that the median annual salary for grant writers was $56,760.

With proper training and development, those with strong writing skills can transfer that ability into a new career that pays extremely well and will afford them a career for life.

Get started on your training for this new career, as a grant writer, today.  Attend “How-2 write Grant Proposals from Scratch” an online lecture series hosted by Chicago’s Black Business Network beginning Wednesday, October 17, 2012.  Register now and make a change for the better in 2013.  Visit http://how-2writegrantproposalsfromscratch.eventbrite.com/ for details on the exciting course.
