“The African Methodist Episcopal Church Of Chicago And Vicinity Launches Ambitious Campaign For The First Day Of School Entitled: ‘The Village Pathway Initiative’”

In cooperation with the Chicago Public Schools (CPS), the Fourth Episcopal District of the African Methodist Episcopal Church (A.M.E.C.), led by Senior Bishop John R. Bryant, supports the safe passage of our children to and from school through the “Village Pathway” Initiative.

With approximately fifty (50) African Methodist Episcopal Churches in Chicagoland and vicinity, we consider it our spiritual, social and moral obligation to ensure the safety and protection of our children from the impact of violence, drugs and bullying.

It is paramount to the future of our community that all children have a safe and constructive learning environment.  To that end, pastors will be mobilizing and organizing hundreds of persons this Sunday, August 25th from their churches to be present at various school sites and Safe Passage routes on Monday, August 26, 2013, and the rest of the year.  We will also have additional programs throughout the year focusing on mentoring, tutoring and school partnering, to name a few.

The 4th District of the African Methodist Episcopal Church is proud to join CPS in this endeavor and looksforward to escorting the children of our community down the “Village Pathway.”
