Unconfortable-1-2.jpgOn September 19, 2013, Black Speech Media, a leading producer, and distributor of African Entertainment will be hosting a film screening and discussion that will be part of the 2013 African Day Parade and Festival line-up. The community is also invited to experience African Culture Through Film on September 19, 2013 at 6PM. This will be held at Raw Space located at 2031 Adam Clayton Powell Blvd., New York, NY.

As one of the leading sponsors for the event, Black Speech Media is providing, printing, design, website management and artists management in addition to hosting the screening. The film screening is will be a great opportunity to discuss the trends around the African movie industry, and what it means for Africans to be telling their stories through this medium. “As Africans, we have to be able to tell our stories in a way that resonates with the rest of the world and there is no better medium than movies. This is why, a part of our participation in the African Day Parade and Festival we are presenting the community with the opportunity to come out and experience this process of storytelling with us,” said Timothy Kublenu, CEO of Black Speech Media. “African movies are a great way to celebrate each other, our communities and take pride on our progress.”

After the film screening, guests are invited for a networking session with food provided by PANLA. This will be a great time for families and friends to gather and network with some of the notable producers, actors and directors of African movies.

About the African Day Parade and Festival:
The Seventh Annual African Day Parade and Festival will be held on Sunday September 22nd, 2013. The parade and festival honors the accomplishment of Africans across the globe, while forging new partnerships in the African Diaspora. The event themed “Our Communities. Our progress. Our Unity.” will be in commemoration of the African Union’s 50th anniversary celebrating the continent of Africa and people of African descent. This years parade and festival will also commemorate the great African leaders such as Kwame Nkrumah, Nelson Mandela, Marcus Garvey, Martin Luther King jr. and Patrice Lumumba.
