Michael Vick has become the “Vick-tim” of his own choices and at the same time a victim of America’s hypocrisy.
Vick (the Vick-tim) put himself in the position where he had to do time in prison. He was always made to feel above the law from his days at Virginia Tech. This led to his arrogance to the point where he felt he did not have to listen to anyone.
But at the same time, Vick has become the victim of our hypocrisy.… Continue

While there are many parts of President Obama's speech before the Ghanaian Parliment that might be lauded there is one remark concerning the current economic crisis in Zimbabwe that is false and misleading:
"... the West is not responsible for the destruction of the Zimbabwean economy over the last decade... "
Quiet as President Obama would like for it to be kept, the West, including the US, is most responsible for the economic debacle that exists in Zimbabwe today.… Continue

When the Late Babu and myself nominated Taj I was not familiar with the Borderland issue. Babu would have been sice he was a Zanzibari. What I realised was that Taj did not have much reading background on Pan-Africanism. He had much enthusiasm.
He chose to go the way of the poltical leaders of state Pan-Africanism such as Salim, who was head of the OAU and Butros Ghali, SG of the UN. Like Salim Taj took an Arab wife. That was the option he chose. You'd remember that Nkrumah had done the… Continue

Dear Alfred and friends
Thanks for the variuos comments. I am as busy with Sudan/Borderlands issues as I was in Juba. Right now I
am preparing a paper for the Sudan Studies Conference at the University of South Africa in Pretoria in November. The
presentation, if it is accepted, will be partly based on the argument of Chancellor Williams on the falsification of African history by western scholarship.
Alfred - your coomments on Taj reflect my thinking, and are a… Continue

Any political analyst will admit that the Republican Party is in a serious downward spiral, but the Florida GOP and its governor, Charlie Crist, give me some hope for the future.
Jim Greer, the head of the Florida GOP, is the best party chairman in the country (Democrat or Republican) and their governor, Charlie Crist is by far the best governor in the country (bar none).
Greer will be my featured guest on my radio show… Continue

Wash. D.C. - Tonight I attended what was billed as a “community” meeting in NE Washington regarding the police shooting of Trey Joyner, a 25-year old black man that was gunned down in the Trinidad neighborhood of the city on June 8th by six white Park Police and possibly FBI agents. They were claiming to have been in the hood in response to a report about a “man with a gun,” but they refuse to explain why would any one in… Continue

As the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) meets this week to celebrate its 100th anniversary, I am very conflicted. First, I want to congratulate them on their first 75 years. They did a marvelous job at a time when America needed a lot of nudging down the road towards equality. Their past 25 years, however, has not been so glorious.
After 100 years, I think it’s time to ponder whether this… Continue
