Mr. Holder was responding to a question posed by Dr. Claire Nelson of the Institute of Caribbean Studies. Dr. Nelson asked about the prospect under the Obama presidency, for the exoneration of the Right Honorable Marcus Mosiah Garvey, OJ.
In responding, Mr. Holder acknowledged that as a student, he wrote papers on Garvey, and that he believes Garvey was unfairly treated by the United States government. As relates to an exoneration Holder further stated, “This is something I want to do. I think it is appropriate given the nature of his contribution to the United States.”
