"We believe business ownership, good financial stewardship and creative entrepreneurship are keys to ending the financial struggle for many families and small businesses, said Watkins.  He added, "With unemployment at record high numbers, hundreds of college graduates unable to find work and many others under-employed, Conquer Business 2012 will offer innovative, lasting solutions to pursue non-traditional opportunities for success."

Jakes, Founder and Pastor of the Potter's House located in Dallas, will share his personal business model for creating generational wealth.  "We live in a society that equates wealth with power," said Jakes.  "The most impactful way to level the playing field is to extend our spending power beyond a single generation through the establishment of successful entrepreneurial endeavors that are stored up as a legacy for our children's children."

We have numerous African American entrepreneurs with great ideas and superior work ethics trying to make it right now.  They don't need advice as much as they need resources; specifically in the form of equity capital.  Every new program becomes a focus on the kids.  We have adults out here now who need equity capital, not loans to make inroads in the new green industries and to unleash market breaking ideas.  Yes many of the businesses could benefit from some mentoring, however, they need the kind of advice that you would receive from a parent teaching you how to ride a bicycle, after they see to it that you have a bicycle to ride.  Every group of people have figured out how to get equity capital to the entrepreneurs in their group.  Whether we are talking about Jews, Chinese, Koreans, East Indians, Cubans or other Europeans who have used the stock exchanges for a couple of centuries.  Penny stocks are a great way of financing new industry.  Reginald Lewis tried to create a small business exchange early in his career, before he got involved with McCall's Patern Division.  Our focus needs to be on teaching our people how to invest in the businesses that will create their financial futures.  This goes beyond the advice that most of our entrepreneurs have heard 1,000 times already!
