S. African President Zuma to speak at National Press Club Luncheon Aug. 4, ahead of the 6th BRICS summit

President Jacob Zuma of South Africa will be the guest at a National Press Club Speakers luncheon at 1:30 p.m. Monday, August 4.

Zuma, who was first elected president in 2009 and re-elected in 2014, will speak on the eve of the U.S.-Africa Leaders Summit in Washington August 5 to 6, and shortly after the 6th BRICS summit he participated in agreed to establish a $50 billion development bank.

His appearance at the NPC coincides with the approaching 20th anniversary of Nelson Mandela speaking at the Club on Oct. 7, 1994, after the first fully democratic election in South Africa's history.

The Press Club luncheon will begin promptly at 1:30 p.m. Remarks will begin at 2 p.m, followed by a question and answer session ending at 3 p.m. Tickets may be purchased at (http://www.press.org/events/npc-luncheon-jacob-zuma-president-republic-south-africa). The cost of luncheon admission is $22 for NPC members and $36 for non-members.  Tickets may be purchased at the time of reservations.
