CONTACT: Joanna Klonsky 312-307-0840 [e-mail]   Coalition to Register Thousands of Illinoisans on National Voter Registration Day Activities across the state to mobilize voters as part of national day of action WHO: Cook County Clerk David Orr; Representatives from organizations leading National Voter Registration Day activities in Illinois, including: RainbowPUSH, Every Vote Counts,  Black Youth Project; Chicago Votes Field Organizer Rudy Garrett; Citizen Action Illinois; Grassroots Collaborative/Brighton Park Neighborhood Council Organizer, Alejandro Sanchez; Celina Villanueva, New Americans Democracy Project and Youth Engagement Program Manager, Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights; and the Latino Policy Forum. WHAT: Voter Registrars on site all day at Rainbow PUSH in celebration of the largest single-day effort of the year to register voters and involve them in the political process. Through National Voter Registration Day, now in its third year, more than 350,000 voters nationally have registered through the efforts of more than 2,100 partners. In Illinois this year, over 50 organizations will partner to register thousands of new voters on National Voter Registration Day before the November 4 general election.
