Join the New Orleans Consulate of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Cooperation Jackson, and the Malcolm X Grassroots Movement on Saturday, March 7th at the Lumumba Center for Economic Democracy and Development as we host a showing of the Venezuelan documentary film “Por Aqui paso Chavez”, Directed by Jesus Alberto Garcia.
Por Aquí paso Chavez is documentary about the visit of the late Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez Frias to Bamako, Mali in August 2006. On this visit President Chavez payed tribute to Mother Africa on this visit and focused on the deep links between Africa, Venezuela and the whole of Latin America.
Jesus Alberto Garcia is a renowned scholar and co-founder of the Afro-Venezuelan Network. He currently serves as the Consul General of the Venezuelan Consulate in New Orleans, LA.
This event is part of work of the Malcolm X Grassroots Movement and Cooperation Jackson to advance the International Decade of People of African Descent.
