Who:               HOPE Organization located in the Englewood community will provide assistance to thousands of low income residents with utilities assistances while funding last.

 

What:          The LIHEAP (Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program will begin Tuesday, September 2nd, and will continue until funds are exhausted. Income eligible residents (senior citizens and disabled individuals) can apply for this program to receive assistance.  There are four different types of assistance available; 1) ComEd Residential Special Hardship, 2) LIHEAP Direct Vendor Payment, 3) LIHEAP Percent of Income Payment Program, and 4) Share The Warmth.  October 1, 2014, Emergency Furnace, Reconnection Assistance and households with children under 6 years old can apply.  November 1, 2014, general enrollment

 

  • Documents needed to Apply
  • Proof of current 30 day gross income from all household members.
  • Copy of most recent heat and electric bills if you pay for your home energy directly. (Must provide entire bill)
  • Proof of Social Security Numbers of all household members.
  • If a member of your household receives TANF, you must bring their Medical Card.
  • Applicants that have their utilities included in the rent must bring copy of rental agreement which states monthly rental amount, that utilities are included, and landlord contact information. (Rent costs must be greater than 30% of household gross income.)
