GMC PARTNERS WITH AMERICAN BLACK FILM FESTIVAL
ON SCREENPLAY COMPETITION TO PROMOTE DEVELOPMENT
OF AFRICAN AMERICAN FAITH & FAMILY-FRIENDLY ENTERTAINMENT

`GMC'S FAITH AND FAMILY SCREENPLAY COMPETITION'
A KEY COMPONENT OF NETWORK'S SUPPORT AS OFFICIAL SPONSOR OF 15TH ANNUAL FEST

GMC ORIGINAL MOVIE TO PREMIERE IN ADVANCE OF WORLD PREMIERE ON NETWORK

(Atlanta, GA February 3, 2011) - GMC, America's favorite channel for uplifting music and family entertainment, announced today that it is partnering with the American Black Film Festival (ABFF) on a competition that will promote the development of faith and family-friendly entertainment screenplays. "GMC's Faith and Family Screenplay Competition" is a component of GMC's "Official Sponsorship" of the 15th annual event, which is the pre-eminent festival promoting cultural diversity within the film and television industry. The 2011 ABFF will be held July 6-9 in Miami.

"GMC's partnership with ABFF is an ideal way for us to further strengthen awareness of GMC among the African American creative community," says Wendy McCoy, vice president of marketing at GMC. "There are millions of stories out there that bind and uplift families, and we want to hear them."

"So many of the faith and family scripts and movies tend to center around the Church," adds Brad Siegel, vice-chairman of the network. "We welcome those stories, but also want the African American creative community to look for relevant, contemporary, slice-of-life depictions that organically incorporate faith elements while appealing to broad audiences. Our partnership with ABFF is a way to send a signal to the African American creative community, and the creative community in general, that we are the home of multi-cultural themed faith and family original movies and series."

Entries for GMC's Faith and Family Screenplay Competition will be solicited by the ABFF through the organization's web site (http://abff.com/festival/) and newsletter. All eligible screenplays received will be sent to GMC for review by a select panel, which will choose three finalists. The three finalists will have portions of their screenplay performed by actors in attendance at the festival and in front of a live audience of festival attendees and industry tastemakers. One Grand Prize winner will receive $5,000.

GMC's sponsorship of the ABFF also will be highlighted by an exclusive sneak-preview screening at the festival of one of the network's original movies with a multi-cultural theme.
