MITHRA AND THE ORIGINS OF ROMAN RELIGION
THE ORIGINS OF MITHRAISM
*Note: notice the word Ra at the end of the word Mithra*
Question: where did the Roman’s Christian deity originate?
Answer: good question, the Roman’s first worshiped a deity called Mithra. Mithra was an adaptation of the ancient Egyptian (Kemetian) deity Ra: hence Mith-Ra. Mithra was originally worshiped by the ancestors of the Persians when they were still united with the Dravidians of the Indus Valley. The Dravidians were already worshippers of Mithra.
The hymns of the Vedas and Avesta celebrated the name of Mithra, and despite the differences between the two theological systems, the Vedic Mitra and the Persian Mithra have preserved the original Egyptian (Kemetian) origin of the Creative Force of Creation which is Ra.
Both spiritual systems saw Mithra as a god of light, invoked together with Heaven, also known as Varuna by the Dravidians, and Ahura by the Persians; his main attribute was Protector of Truth, and the Antagonist of Falsehood and Lies.
Question: who was Varuna?
Answer: Varuna was known as the one who encompasses the whole world, he is one of the oldest Vedic deities, and is the personification of Creative Power. Like Atum-Ra of ancient Egypt (Kemet), Yahweh-Elohim, and Kurios - Theos of Christianity, Varuna was linked to Mitra and praised as Mitra-Varuna.
Question: is Varna equal to The Most High, Allah, or Neb-er-tcher?
Answer: for the Dravidians (Hindus) yes. Varnus is the “Master of the outer limits” The Most High, the king of the universe and lives in and expands to be the highest realm. His knowledge and power are unlimited. He has the all-seeing eye and oversees the whole world. The concept of Mitra-Varnus is the same as Elohim and Yahweh, Elohim is The Eternal Creator, and Yahweh is the manifestation of The Creator, or The Lord God as seen in the Bible in Genesis Chapter 2.
Question: who is Ahura?
Answer: Ahura refers to Mazda Ahura, or Faravahar.
Mazda Ahura, means the Most Wise Creator, Good Lord of Existence. There is an unusual significance of this. 'Mazda', meaning the Most Wise Creator, it is a feminine noun (like the Greek 'Sophia') but 'Ahura', meaning literally "High Being", is masculine. Thus Zarathushtra begins to emphasize a theme that runs throughout his Gathas (scriptures) that God is genderless and abstract in nature, but at the same time is very personal and shares both feminine and masculine characteristics. (Hu/Hi) In the Gathas, the two names are sometimes used separately, sometimes together, but most often as Mazda Ahura, the Good Lord of Existence, or of Being.
Mazda Ahura or Faravahar
The word "faravahar" actually is Pahlavi, or Middle Persian. It derives from ancient Persian (Avestan) word fravarane which means "I choose." The choice is that of the Good, or the Good Religion of Zarathushtra.
Another related word is fravarti or fravashi, which may derive from an alternative meaning of "protect," implying the divine protection of the guardian spirit, the fravashi. From these words come the later Middle Persian words fravahr, foruhar, orfaravahar.
Manifestation of God: like Allah in Al-Islam (Most glorified and exalted) Mazda communicates and manifests himself to mortals through His own attributes, which are a part of His being, and which makes up human beings, if they choose to exercise them.
Indeed, as Ahura God is the very ground of all being and thus His name Good Lord of Existence.
Question: how is God realized in Zoroasterism?
Answer: to the followers of Zoroasterism God is realized through the mind’s eye. This interchange between Divinity and man who seeks Him out, is unique. God did not appear to Zarathushtra in bodily form, or as an angel, or through a bush or a mountain. Zarathushtra saw Him in his "Mind's Eye." This is how Zarathushtra explains his communion with GOD in Gathas.
"Wise One, I realize you to be powerful and progressive because You help with Your own hand. You give rewards to both the lovers of illusion and deceit, and the Lovers of the True and Right Order of things, by means of the warmth of your Fire, which is mighty through The True and Right Order of Things and through which the strength of Loving Good Thinking comes to me." (Gathas: Song 8:4)
Question: does Jesus have any connection to Mithra?
Answer: There are similarities between Christ and Mithra, but you have to remember the origin of all of this mythos go back to ancient Egypt. Gerald Berry in his book Religions of the world explains that: "Both Mithras and Christ were described as 'the Way,' 'the Truth,' 'the Light,' 'the Life,' 'the Word,' 'the Son of God,' 'the Good Shepherd.' The Christian litany to Jesus could easily be an allegorical litany to the sun-god. Mithras is often represented as carrying a lamb on his shoulders, just as Jesus is.
Midnight services were found in both religions. The virgin mother...was easily merged with the virgin mother Mary. Petra, the sacred rock of Mithraism, became Peter, the foundation of the Christian Church."
Swami Prajnanananda, also explains in his book Christ the Saviour and Christ Myth that Mithra or Mitra is...worshipped as Itu (Mitra-Mitu-Itu) in every house of the Hindus in India. Itu (derivative of Mitu or Mitra) is considered as the Vegetation-deity. This Mithra or Mitra (Sun-God) is believed to be a Mediator between God and man, between the Sky and the Earth. It is said that Mithra or [the] Sun took birth in the Cave on December 25th. It is also the belief of the Christian world that Mithra or the Sun-God was born of [a] Virgin.
He travelled far and wide. He has twelve satellites, which are taken as the Sun's disciples.... [The Sun's] great festivals are observed in the Winter Solstice and the Vernal Equinox—Christmas and Easter. His symbol is the Lamb...."
Question: so are you saying that Mithraism is the origin of Christianity?
Answer: I’m saying that Mitra greatly influenced Christianity, and the concepts of a deity was taken out of earlier civilizations by the Romans, and adapted by them; it is easy to see from a gnostic point of view that the framework of Christianity is definitely African in origin.
Question: why do the Hindus call the deity Mitra, and the Persians call Him Mithra?
Answer: as I said before the worship of the Indo-Persian god Mithra dates back centuries before the Common Era. To the Dravidians of the Indus Valley “Mitra” was worshipped as one deity along with their Persian brethren. When the Persians separated from the Dravidians, Mitra became known as "Mithra" or "Mihr," the name He is known by in Persian.
Question: what happened to Mitra worship after the Indians and Persians split?
Answer: the Indians (Dravidians) set up a kingdom in the Near East called Mitanni where they occupied Assyria. It was in Mitanni that we find Mitra worship thriving once again, which is evidenced by the Mitanni tablets which were found at Bogaz-Koy a village in modern Turkey. Mitra worship made its way westward into the Hittite (Hattian) Kingdom as well.
Question: was Mitra the only god the Mitanni worshipped?
Answer: the gods of the Mitanni included Mitra, Varuna and Indra, all found in the Vedic texts. But this concept of worship was not what many western minds might think of when they think of pagan worship. Deities in Mitanni worship was thought of as having separate“duties and functions”, but working together as one: under one universal god head.
Question: I know the ancients didn’t worship the physical manifestation of the Sun, but what does the Sun really represent?
Answer: the ancients were not simple minded people, they were just simple people, and they looked to nature to innerstand the subjective nature of objective manifestations. The Sun was seen as an object of power, and affection because it brought warmth, light, and growth of vegetation. The Sun was man’s focal point for the Creative Force hidden behind nature.
The Sun represents spiritual intelligence: light is always a symbol of Intelligence, and the Sun, the supreme source of light in man’s world, represents the highest form of intelligence.
The moon, symbolizes the intellect, it receives all its light (intellect) from the spiritual intelligence (represented by the Sun). This is the true source of all light. Our individual mind is quickened to the extent that we make it receptive to the in flooding of the light of Spirit.
To the Dravidians and the Persians Mithra were the Creative Force, and the light and power behind the sun. In Babylon, Mithra was identified with Shamash, the sun god, and he is also Bel, the Mesopotamian and Canaanite/ Phoenician solar deity, who is likewise Marduk, the Babylonian god who represented both the planet Jupiter and the sun. According to Pseudo-Clement of Rome's debate with Appion (Homily VI, ch. X), Mithra is also Apollo.
Question did Mithraism related to the Egyptian Mysteries?
Answer: not directly, but Mithraism was a part of the sciences of the Babylonian and Chaldean Magi. These Magi fused Mithraism with astro-theology, astrology, and magic (science). The Magi (Magicians) were Priests of a worldwide Order.

Why is it that the Africans in the Diaspora, the African Americans cannot go to the Black Africa and report on the religious practices of the indegenous people of Africa today. The ancient religions have now been updated into the present more powerful Gods in the African continent. When the Europeans and Arabs came in contact with our ancetors, they were so afraid of the powers of these Gods that they gave names that currentlly scare the Western and Easteren world. My problem is that the Africans in America previously made into Negroes have assumed that the continental Africans are still going with the Kemittan religions. No. These Kemittan religions have been replaced by more powerful ones. In fact when I read the Book of Leviticus to the worshippers of Tegare, Dokosu, Ntinanko, Bonsam, the Gods in my town, the people wondered whether I wrote it and pretended that the book of Leviticus is part of ancient book we call the BIBLE. Africa is well represented in the bible and Europe is not. Neither the Middle East because although the Bible refers Ethiopia to represent Africa, all the Middle East was part of Africa. Let us visit some of these Great African Gods and see what they can do. But the current poverty rampaging the nations of Africa has reduced our Gods to nothing but the POWERS are still there. Also because of Christianization and Arabization of Africa, most African have indulged in Activities which Daniel and his friends were able to prevent and thus kept their God with them. Some of the present Africans have been changed into Europeans and Arabs and their Gods have deserted them. But there are Gods which will never desert the people and that is why there is sanity still in Africa despite all the misgoverning, bribery and corruptions.
