A safe space for your/our own voice.

Why is TheBlackList different from all other similar online forum? What is it that has made us distinct? Well, it is that which have you be on TheBlackList. It is because you have the freedom to speak and to be heard. The opportunity to speak and here your and our own voice. It is the opportunity to be free from the RE-GURGITATION from so-called major media – CNN, HUFFINGTON POST, NYT, AP etc. (They do not need my help promoting their ideas.) What’s your idea? What’s your opinion? My intention is to maintain TheBlackList as a safe space for the nurturing, development and fostering of our own voice and the Language Of Freedom. It is no accident that those who we look up to with admiration – those who advance the ball that is our cause - were/are masters of language, the written and spoken word. Freedom begins with the being and the speaking of the being-ness of being free. When we are not speaking and being in conversation with ourselves we are not being free. This is an indirect way to say and request that we do not repost articles from major media on TheBlackList Blogs – UNLESS such article includes or commentary or analysis. Any such article that is not subject for your commentary or analysis will be summarily deleted. Freedom is a conversation by free men about being free. We dare not free ourselves when we do not speak for ourselves. KWASI TheBlackList Admin

    Alafia to All,

You know, in this era of 2000, we, as a nation seem to be more frightened to speak what one's eyes sees, one's ears hears, one's mind/spirit guides and reveals. Truths sorround us from the mundane to the extensive but we Afrikans seems to still have issues with being comfortable in "making plain" how we feel on issues, then acting on the situation, why. Fear is very extensive when coming from and living with the passdowns of Jim Crow. The phenomenon permeates every area of our existance, and that includes not speaking on the "foot" that is lying on one's kneck.

We have become confortable with accepting ill-behaviors from our youth due to the "fear" of the law coming into one's home if you chastise your child. There's a "fear" of what one is going to do with an elder vice dealing as a family unit and all taking care of each other; the later is our way as being Afrikan. There is "fear" of the freedom of speaking one's mind on any issues dealing with the government because of branding, harrassment, tapping, loosing job etc. However, one of the many strong-positives is the fact we have been traveling back home to Afrika in growing numbers. Our Ancestral Family's words have been heard by all of us and we have taken action, even if we didn't know why. Our cultural growth has naturally followed behind our pilgramages, observations, amalgamations and living in spiritual-cultural confidence is something that has no measure because of how our cultures were snatched from our family members. We've moved forward and upward in leaps and bounds! Our Afrikan folks, from Senegal to Brooklyn to Argentina have binded and are seeing the similarities and differences of how our folks, in that particular region, evolved. This is awesome.

Let us not allow fear to stop us from moving in the positive and more importantly, being informed.

I was just going over some emails that I'd received from the BlackList last year and came upon this one and thought that it was beautifully written. I'd just like to add my two cents to an already beautifully written article about "Fear" and Black Folk. There is another, much more potent element of FEAR that Black Folk MUST renounce and/or eradicate if we are to survive as a people and as a strong Black Nation. Let me explain.
In many communities there are many organizations and outlets for association, gathering, implementing programs to better the communities, strengthen the youth, etc. Those people pool their money, their time, their united effort, and their resources and get things done. Their churches are primarily for worship (although involved in other aspects of community interests where necessary.
The important thing is that they know how to separate the spiritual from the secular when it comes to getting things done and taking care of business. Even the Scripture is in harmony with this: "There is a time for every event and every affair under the sun." We as Black People seem to lose balance when it comes to this. We have never learned to differentiate between church and secular--and how does it benefit us? What do we get in return for all of the monies paid to the church--indefinitely--in the form of tithes and offerings and donations: a seat in the heavenly choir? A cloud to sit on in glory as we play our harp? Or a ticket out, and exemption from the fires of hell if we're good? What REALISTIC hope do we gain? A heaven we have absolutely no concept of? What then?
We seem to also FEAR when it comes to doing certain things that may pehaps benefit or enhance our communities or the youth--or even ourselves (as adults) unless we receive 'permission' from the pastor of the various churches. Many rule their communities with an iron fist (or tongue)! I know of no other people who must do this: where the pastor holds so much power over the people and community as exists within the black race. Why, we've GIVEN him more power than GOD!--but of course--in the name of Jesus. The onus is now on us to change this diabolical trend, for God is Jealous. In the various communities, we hold the proverbial feet of political leaders to the 'fire'--and if they don't comply with our demands, we'll simply vote them out of office. This is not so in the black church where the pastor reigns SUPREME! And in perpetuation! Did he die-or shed his precious life-blood for us? And too many of them are entering the 'gates' of the pulpit wearing the rotten stench of the world and this country that is covered in greed and unscriptural, unclean, sexually degrading practices--even on the "down low"--and the church remains silent, passive, complacent--and indifferent--out of FEAR. The Bible tells us that perfect love for God "casts FEAR outside". Yet, we seem to FEAR man--more than we do God. To a large measure, he has traded in our salvation--for prestige and material/financial gain.

In view of the horrible things coming upon this world in the future immediately ahead of us; in view of the constantly forming "MATRIX" all around us--ever ready to usher in its "New World Order", ticking off the anger of God [see Revelation 11:18--' The nations became angry, sparking your own anger...']--it behooves us to begin developing a HEALTHY FEAR (respectful awe and reverence) of Him and not have it continue to be misplaced upon men ('in whom no salvation belongs'). If we have spiritual eyes, we'll see the prophecy of Daniel (from which Jesus himself quoted) in full swing (in its dual fulfillment) even now. Daniel said--'When you see the disgusting thing (the "abomination") standing in the "Holy Place"...' know that the end is here (the thing that causes desolation). What is more 'disgusting' than "Pimps" (exploiting Jesus' sheep for profit!) taking up residence in the "Holy Place"--the Pulpit, from whench the "Holy" Word of God is dispensed to His sheep?

"Let those who have ears--hear what the Spirit is saying to the Church!
      • Thanks for sharing.
How do you manage and manifest all the things that you perceive to be needed and "we" are not doing?
How do these things show up in your life and your experience of living?
How do you rise up where you see "we" are falling short?
        What results have you produced?

Thanks for your participation and cooperation.
