Event Description

Throughout the history of Africans in America the narrative for our struggle for liberation has been imbalanced. Often we recognize, discuss, and celebrate the powerful men who fought for our freedom while not shedding ample light on the women who were the engines in the movements for liberation.  This month our Sankofa session will celebrate the  "hidden figures", our women freedom fighters.

Through an exploration of past and current examples participants will be challenged think about the contributions of Black women, have they secured their place in history on equal footing as their male comrades and how we can highlight a more balanced perspective for the continued fight for our liberation going forward?
